Air pollution monitoring for WECF
Air quality in Georgia is a hot topic. Pollution in the capital Tbilisi ranks among the worst in Europe and the Caucasus, but indoor air pollution across the country represents a different, but equally serious threat, with 1700 premature deaths in 2017 alone attributed to it. This is predominently due to the use of firewood fuels for heating in inefficient stoves.
These kindergartens in Zestafoni are part of a new WECF program that uses sensors to measure airborn particulate matter (PM), meaning dust, smoke and other harmful particles.
