Caesar the gibbon - named after the Planet of the Apes character - sits on the head of U Myo Aung, the father of Aung Khant Zaw, an exotic pet store owner. Importing a gibbon legally to Myanmar is a complicated and expensive process involving licenses, vaccinations and plane rides from Thailand.

From a three-day trip to Mandalay and Bagan to capture some of the experiences Easia offers to tourists. A oil lamp ceremony is a very special ritual in Myanmar; lighting 1000 candles in the shadow of Kuthodaw Pagoda (which contains the world's largest book) symbolises moving out of darkness and towards a brighter future.

3D printing is the production technology of the future, and Renishaw Plc are adapting it for use in a great variety of situations. These pieces are 3D printed in titanium, and will be used in surgical applications as replacements for bone structures - the piece in the foreground is a facial part.

Chef Win Tun Aung for The Myanmar Times
Part of a profile piece on Win Tun Aung, the Burmese sushi chef at Yangon's Edo Zushi. Win Tun left Myanmar at the age of 17 to avoid persecution stemming from the 1988 student protests, and spent the following 23 years learning to cook astonishing sushi in Japan. He returned to Myanmar in 2013, and is an incredibly interesting person to talk to!
